I’m John Pastor of The Branch and also the Outdoor Pastor. I love God’s creation! I get excited when I see a deer or hear geese flying over head. I love to hunt and respect the world God has given us to take care of. I also love to dig in the dirt perfecting the landscape around me. It’s fun knowing astilbes need shade and Black-Eyed Susan’s thrive in the summer sun.
I grew up in Western New York in a loving family with a mom and dad who worked hard and loved the Lord. I carry with me that same work ethic in my business The Brush- a painting company. My friend Kenny is co-owner with me and also works with The Branch. My wife Cindy is from Minnesota and we have been married for 18 years. Between the two of us we have four children scattered around the country. We have lived in South Dakota just about our whole married life. I have been a Pastor for over 25 years and God has led me on a journey that has taken me to the broken in our society.
Every week I work one day at a treatment facility for those struggling with addiction. I have heard many heart breaking stories. I have come to realize that not everyone has had the happy upbringing that I experienced. And I think that is why I enjoy working with these people so much. I want to bring them and all people hope and see them thrive. I love sharing the Gospel in simple ways that people can understand and relate to.
Like a landscape that has been freshened I believe God can restore lives through His Son. And His Word promises that He will make our feet like the feet of a deer- in other words we can climb to new heights and go to places we never thought possible!
